Individual Therapy

As a mental health therapist, the foundation of my work is anchored in nurturing a meaningful relationship with you. Cultivating an emotional bond of trust, compassion, care, and respect; agreement on the goals of your therapy; and collaboration on our work together is essential. To begin gracefully redefining ourselves and our lives we must first identify what is no longer working. What if you were willing to explore the infinite possibilities of a renewed foundation being formed? Together we can tenderly uncover the parts of your life that are not working and empower you to create healthier changes.

Young Adults

Young adulthood is a time of transition and uncertainty. Young adulthood brings with it a unique set of challenges that may inspire growth and resiliency if approached in a healthy, informed way. During this phase of life, you transition from student to professional and your expectations of yourselves may also transition. Worries and expectations related to evolving relationships, beginning careers, family, finances, identity, academic and job performance combined with the new freedom, responsibilities, and independence of adult life can leave many young adults feeling chronically stressed and overwhelmed.

Teen Counseling

Modern day pressures are unfolding before our eyes and teenagers are struggling more than ever before, which means parents and caregivers are too. My passion and purpose for working with teens is centered on helping them discover or uncover their strengths, encourage self-refection, visualize how things could be different and empower them to make positive changes in their lives. It is remarkably empowering for teens to reflect on what matters to them as individuals.

Children's Therapy

My therapeutic approach when working with children, young adolescents, and their families is the use of child-centered play therapy. In child-centered play therapy, a child’s experience within the counseling relationship is the factor that is most healing and meaningful in creating lasting, positive change. The style of play therapy that I practice most often and one that I’m deeply passionate about is a child-centered, nondirective approach, a method that unlocks a child’s fears, motivations, desires, and strengths.

Couples and Family Counseling

Close relationships are essential to our happiness and well-being and are also an important predictor of physical health. My approach to couples counseling is to help individuals involved in a romantic relationship gain insight into their relationship, resolve conflict, and improve relationship satisfaction utilizing a variety of therapeutic interventions. Family counseling focuses more on the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect not only individual family members, but also relationships between family members and the family unit as a whole.

Coparenting Counseling

One of the toughest and most gratifying challenges any of us experience is parenting. Coparenting is not limited to divorce, and of course, every co-parenting relationship is unique. However, going through a separation or divorce can be a difficult process for all parties involved. When children are involved, this experience can become much more complicated; and rather than parting ways, both parents must still work together for the benefit of their children. The goals of coparenting counseling are to understand the common stages of co-parenting, improve communication and conflict resolution skills, and develop a co-parenting plan that is in the best interest of the child or children. We are excited to guide you on your journey to healthy parenting.

Coparenting Virtual Training Series

The Purpose Center at KKJ Forensic and Psychological Services conducts the Coparenting Virtual Training Series: How to Be an Effective Co-Parent. This training is designed for individuals at any stage of separation and divorce – from those in early, collaborative stages to those struggling with high-conflict divorce or co-parenting difficulties.
